I remember when 1TB Micro SD cards were a pipe dream for any device, and I think the launch of the Switch 2 is the first time we’ve seen a device virtually release with this capacious option. Granted, finding any of the best Micro SD Express cards for Switch 2 in stock is a challenge, so to get such a big card at a proper discount is worth celebrating.

This 1TB Lexar Play Pro card is one of the only ones of its kind, and while £200 isn’t cheap by any means, it provides you with a means of virtually quadrupling your Switch 2 storage in an instant and saves you from having a potential pile of other cards as time goes on. If you weren’t aware, Micro SD Express is the way forward for Switch 2’s expandable storage against the older, now ubiquitous standard Micro SD cards that worked in the old Switch and a range of other devices given they are much faster cards – this Lexar one is rated for up to 900MB/s reads and 600MB/s, which make them faster by four times or so than the best Micro SD cards for Nintendo Switch were.

The 1TB capacity here nearly quadruples your total Switch 2 storage, when taking into account the 256GB internal storage on the Switch 2 itself, minus the usual portion reserved for system stuff, of course. It’s storage you may well need considering the size of some Switch 2 games, especially third-party options such as Cyberpunk 2077 that can take up a quarter of the space on the 256GB internal drive as it is.
