Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sold 5.8m copies so far in its first week, according to the official Pokémon company website.
Roughly half of these were on Switch 2, and the number includes both physical and digital copies of the game. This makes it one of the highest-selling Pokémon titles in terms of first-week sales.
As noted by video games sales specialist Pierre485 on X, Z-A still lags behind Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Pokémon Sword/Shield in terms of first-week sales. However, it has already surpassed the likes of Pokémon X/Y and Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu/Eevee.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A was included in a special Switch 2 hardware bundle, which was announced back in July of this year. The Switch 2 version touted “improved graphics and frame-rate”, and Switch copies of the game can be upgraded to the Switch 2 version via an upgrade pack.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A not only brings Mega Evolutions back to the series, it features an arena-style 3D battle system where Pokémon can move around during fights in a bold evolution of traditional turn-based battles. It’s also possible to be knocked out during fights, adding a previously unexplored degree of danger.
In Eurogamer’s three star review, Chris Tapsell wrote, “Lumiose City could do with work, but Pokémon Legends: Z-A is a much more tightly focused – and delightfully goofy – return to better form. At least by modern Pokémon’s standards.”
